Reader Says Pasadena Is ‘Double Dipping’

Dear Editor:
Regarding the article ” New Pilot Sidewalk Repair Program begins in Pasadena ( 8-1-13 – Pasadena Independent.)
The sidewalks belong to the city taxpayers. If someone is hurt because a sidewalk is not maintained, the city ( taxpayers ) can be sued. Under this new program, the city ( taxpayers) will pay 30 to 50 percent of the sidewalk repairs in addition to property tax dollars.
Imagine co-pays for curbs, streets or even to trim city owned trees!
This is another case of double dipping from local government!
The Pasadena Dept. of Public Works may think taxpayers are not playing with a full deck.
