Senator Carol Liu (D-La Cañada, Flintridge) invites current and former foster youth to a town hall this Saturday, May 31st at All Saints Church (Sweetland Hall, 132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena, 91101) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. As a recent Los Angeles County Blue Ribbon Commission on Child Protection highlights, many youth in Los Angeles County still lack a wide range of support, such as counseling, appropriate housing, or a permanent family.
The town hall will provide current and former foster youth an opportunity to engage with foster care providers, agencies, and advocates who will be on-hand to answer questions related to: higher education, financial aid, financial planning, healthcare, housing, and self-advocacy. Limited transportation to the event is available.
“Every child needs love and support to transition into adulthood, but unfortunately many foster youth face an added set of obstacles in their lives. I remain committed to finding solutions to the unique barriers that foster youth face.” said Senator Liu. “This town hall is the first step in addressing the issues of an often overlooked population.”
