AlertID Offers Free Mobile App

Every year in the United States, there are over 2 million home burglaries reported; one every 14.6 seconds (FBI and Dept. of Justice). AlertID, a proud partner of the National Crime Prevention Council (home to McGruff the Crime Dog), offers an important app and tips to help protect families and their homes in support of Crime Prevention Month (October). More than a million members strong, AlertID, the national family neighborhood safety network and mobile app, has proven to help reduce crime, protect families and unite more than 140,000 neighborhoods across the country.
With AlertID, you’ll be able to view an interactive map displaying crimes and sex offenders in your neighborhood. The app allows you to receive alerts and information via mobile device, online and email for as many addresses as you like (home, work, child’s school, etc.), even your current location. Users have the ability to receive law enforcement emergency alerts, crime and sex offender alerts (when an offender moves into your area), prevention tips, severe weather, fire, earthquake alerts and much more. The app also includes a virtual neighborhood watch where you can share photos and information about suspicious activity and other information with neighbors, police and even Homeland Security.
Being aware of the dangers to your home and family with alerts from AlertID is the first step to protection. AlertID has sent 184 million public safety alerts. By receiving this important information, people across the country can stay safer and can make better, more informed decisions about where they live, work, and play, as well as develop a more close knit relationship with local law enforcement and neighbors – something that is missing in our high tech world.
