Time to get away from the real world and into a fictional realized fantasy. Artist DeLoss McGraw scopes out literary figures such as Silvia Plath and Ernest Hemingway and creates multicolored poster-esqe paintings, each telling a story with whimsical colors and playful compositions. His style of painting leaves a curious mark on our art grind of the week. McGraw has illustrated many children’s books, including one for Alice in Wonderland, and his work also features text with quotes from books, poems and other literary sources. Fiction and fine art meet in his unique, catchy style guide.
Take a peek at his work at his upcoming solo show “I’ve Run Away from the Circus” at Couturier Gallery opening October 25 and running through November 29.
