Hundreds will step up on November 2, 2014 at Griffith Park to spread awareness and support the fight against kidney disease

On Sunday, November 2, 2014, hundreds of walkers will join together for the 5th Annual Los Angeles Kidney Walk to help raise awareness and funds to support the fight against kidney disease in Southern California.
The walk will be held at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California. Onsite registration begins at 8:00am and the walk starts at 9:30am. Walkers participate as individuals or on teams with family, friends or colleagues. The Walk will also feature a special appearance by Scott Macintyre of American Idol fame and a warm-up with LA’s own Laker Girls. Walkers are encouraged to fundraise for the event to help meet this year’s $160,000 fundraising goal. Those interested in getting involved or supporting a walker can visit www.kidneywalk.org.
“This walk will help many others take the lifesaving step of getting their kidneys checked,” said Ginger Williams, Development Director of The National Kidney Foundation for the Greater Los Angeles area. “By participating in the Kidney Walk, we’re all helping sound the alarm that anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes or a family history of kidney disease should get screened — that’s over 73 million, or 1 in 3 Americans at risk.”
The Kidney Walk is a non-competitive 5K stroll that raises funds to fight kidney disease through awareness, prevention and treatment programs. In Southern California alone, it’s estimated over 2.6 million people have some form of kidney disease. The Kidney Walk’s National Presenting Sponsor is Astellas; the National Corporate Partner is Questcor. Additional local sponsors include OMD-USA.
The National Kidney Foundation is the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients and their families, and tens of millions of Americans at risk.
