Whittier Woman Arrested for Hit and Run

A female driver is in custody in connection with Sunday night’s hit-and-run case which left a four-month-old infant with a fractured skull, her mother with a broken nose and their family dog dead, South Pasadena Police Chief Art Miller announced at a Tuesday morning press conference.

Miller said Tiffani Lowden, 38, of Whittier, Calif., turned herself into the South Pasadena Police station about 10:30 p.m. Monday on the urging of a family member.
Lowden admitted to being the person wanted for the hit-and-run, Miller said, but later invoked her right to have an attorney present and ceased answering questions, Miller said. The vehicle was found abandoned in Los Angeles.
The accident occurred Sunday night at about 7:30 p.m. as Bryan Hollon, 40, and his wife, Alexandra (Ali), 30, joined by their 4-month old infant in a harness-carrier on her mom’s chest, and their dog, a 7-1/2-year-old Boston Terrier named LaBell, were on an evening walk.
As they entered the crosswalk at the intersection of Orange Grove Avenue and Columbia Street, the suspect, driving a newer model, dark colored sport utility vehicle, turned from westbound Columbia Street to southbound Orange Grove Avenue and hit the the family. According to some reports, the driver paused briefly then continued and drove from the scene of the crime.
Ali Hollon, who sustained a broken nose, told local media “We both landed on the hood of the car, and then it started to slow down and then it accelerated.”
Hollon’s daughter sustained two skull fractures. Both were released from the hospital Monday.
