On Saturday, January 24th, Monte Vista School will host a free E-waste recycling event from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school parking lot located at 11111 Thienes Ave. in South El Monte. The free e-waste recycling event is a fund raiser for the school and is designed to help area residents and community members dispose of electronics in an earth-friendly way.
Whether the equipment works or not, residents are encouraged to use this event to bring in all of the electronic gear that they no longer need. Hard disk drives, computer parts, monitors, towers, keyboards, cell phones, TVs, laptops, VCRs, small appliances, video game consoles, radios, car batteries, and similar equipment are the types of things that can be brought in.
In addition to E-waste, the school will be collecting CRV recycle items such as bottles, aluminum cans, and plastic. Re-usable items like dishes, cups, glasses, small appliances, toasters, irons, utensils, blankets, and gently used jackets will be collected for the El Monte/South El Monte Emergency Resources Association (ERA) for families in the community.
“On behalf of Monte Vista’s students and staff, we encourage you to participate in our E-waste and Recycling event, and we look forward to helping you divert your e-waste and re-usable items from our local landfills,” said Belinda Hyde, teacher.
