In commemoration of Troop 141’s Charter with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), a Centennial Celebration will be held on Saturday May 16, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall, located on 140 E. Palm Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016. The celebration acknowledges the success of the Scouting program in the City of Monrovia. The Troop is currently registered with BSA’s San Gabriel Valley Council, and has 25 active boys in four Patrols.
“This is a great opportunity to gather all our former Scouts and Scouters, and honor those who came before us,” said current Scoutmaster Joe Maez. “It’s a wonderful chance for Scouts to reminisce and reconnect,” he added.
Originally chartered with the First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia in 1915, the Troop has had 64 boys reach the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouting today provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
The evening will include an auction to raise funds for upcoming Eagle service projects, Church beautification efforts, repair kitchen and Patrol boxes. Dinner will be catered by Buca di Beppo. Tickets are $25 each, and $10 for those age 10 and under.
Tickets are available by mail, or in person:
