Authorities on Friday identified the driver who was killed in a collision involving a car and a truck on the westbound 210 Freeway last Thursday.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department said 24-year-old Jonathan Stewart James of Monrovia died at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. May 14.

It was raining when the crash occurred on the freeway, east of Lincoln Avenue at 2:40 p.m.

The CHP said James was driving a 2011 BMW 135i at an unsafe speed for the weather conditions, lost control of the car, and hit the back of a big rig which was parked on the right shoulder.
