On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., an El Monte Police School Resource Officer was notified by Arroyo High School Administration of an allegation of inappropriate contact between a female student and a male teacher. An investigation occurred and it was determined that over the last six months, the teacher had a sexual relationship with the student. The suspect was identified as Richard Paul Daniels of Rancho Cucamonga, who was later arrested and booked at the El Monte Police Department for the listed charges.

According to the Arroyo High School website, Daniels is listed as “the science department chair, he is also an Earth Science instructor, football coach and content specialist.”

Daniels will be arraigned on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the Pomona Superior Courthouse.

Anyone with information regarding any recent or past inappropriate contact with Richard Daniels is being asked to telephone the El Monte Police Department at (626) 580-2109. Any additional information may also be submitted via email at tips@empd.org.
