“No Credible Threats” to Pasadena for THE 2016 ROSE PARADE, ROSE BOWL GAME

Officials for the City of Pasadena, the Rose Bowl Stadium and the Tournament of Roses Association wish to remind the public and the news media that there are currently no known credible threats associated with security for either the 127th Rose Parade or the 102nd Rose Bowl Game, held Jan. 1, 2016.

Pasadena Police Chief Phillip L. Sanchez said “there are no known credible threats to Pasadena or either event” despite some news reports today alleging an unverified threat to New York, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. The FBI today issued a similar statement.

FBI officials provided Pasadena Police Chief Sanchez with the following statement: “While The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are not aware of any specific, credible threats to the homeland, we continue to take proactive steps to ensure personnel and resources are in place to ensure the safety and security of our communities. We remind the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities which could represent a threat to public safety.”

Increased visible and non-visible enhanced security measures will be in effect along the Rose Parade Route and at the Rose Bowl Stadium. Law enforcement officers will resolve problems quickly and remove anyone violating the law or disturbing the peace. Please be sure to allow extra time to arrive, park and enter. Drones are not allowed at either event, per federal regulations. Umbrellas and selfie sticks also are not allowed inside the stadium or within the secured grandstand area of the parade at TV Corner, located at the intersection of Orange Grove Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard.
