Sandbag Saturday Event a Success
“The Sand Bag Saturday Event, which was held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, was a huge success! We distributed over 1,500 sandbags that day, and ABC 7 provided news coverage of the event. As an added surprise, during the event, the Helpful Honda People (yes, it appears that they are real… and yes, they do wear blue shirts!) stopped by and helped our team fill sandbags!
“Many thanks to all of the volunteers who participated to make the event possible, including CERT Volunteers, Fire Explorers, Fire Cadets, Fire Department Personnel, Public Services Staff, and other City staff members who volunteered their time to assist.
“In addition, we wanted to share that our final El Niño Community Preparedness event is scheduled to take place on Jan. 21, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Library Community Room. This event is being held in conjunction with the Office of Senator Carol Liu, and the County of Los Angeles Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will also be presenting topics. In addition, the Office of Assembly Member Chris Holden is also assisting with the event. A flyer publicizing the event has been included below your review / reference.
“Furthermore, the City has established an El Niño Preparedness webpage, which can be accessed at:
