While the City of Duarte is hosting the official opening ceremony for the start of the Gold Line extension (John Fasana of that city is on the Metro Board), Monrovia is also preparing to “Rediscover Gold” this Saturday. The Duarte celebration is set for 10 a.m. at the City of Hope Station (Duarte Road, just across from the City of Hope).
Monrovia will begin its celebration at 11 a.m. with music, crafts games, informational booths, trackless train rides, and fun for the whole family. This will last through the day until 4 p.m.
From approximately 11:30 a.m. to noon there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony that will official celebrate the opening of the Monrovia Gold Line Station, after which there will be live music from the band, Person to Person.
Starting at noon, it will be free to ride the gold line along its entire route. These free rides will continue until midnight on Saturday. To help connect the entire community to the event, the city will be providing free shuttle rides all day between Old Town Monrovia and Station Square.
