The City of Monrovia has received five responses to its Request for Quotation regarding building a hotel on the empty lot at the southwest corner of Huntington Drive and Myrtle Avenue. City staff members are currently reviewing these proposals and a study session with the city council has been tentatively scheduled for April 19 before the regular council meeting.
The firms that submitted responses include: Tharaldson Hospitality Development (THD); Singpoli Group; Arbor Capital Group Inc.; CFT NV Developments LLC; and CIBA Real Estate, on behalf of Corinthian Development Company.
This property was part of those parcels owned by the city’s redevelopment agency. With limited time left on using the property before control of it shifts from the Successor Agency, to the Monrovia Redevelopment Agency, to the state, the city is working to find a use for the property. If control shifts to the state the city will have limited say on its use. It is in the best interest of the city to find a revenue producing use for the property.
