German discount grocer Aldi will open 10 new stores in Southern California later this month, including a grand opening in Arcadia April 21.
In June, Aldi disclosed it would break into the hyper-competitive Southern California market by offering consumers an affordable alternative to leading grocers. More than 90 percent of the merchandise sold at the stores is Aldi’s private label brands and prices range from 20 to 50 percent lower than that of competitors such as Albertsons, Ralphs, or Vons, according to a company press release.
The California expansion is part of Aldi’s five-year plan to open 605 stores nationwide.
The new Arcadia location will be at 1403 S. Baldwin Ave.
