Leadership Pasadena (LP), the one and only leadership program creating community leaders to make the Pasadena area a better place to live and work, will celebrate the graduation of the class of 2016 on Friday, May 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be at the Pasadena Women’s City Club at 160 N. Oakland Ave.
The graduating class will present to the public the following community projects created this year as a permanent enhancement to the Pasadena community:
– Altadena Elementary: disaster supplies, inventory and recommendations: this LP team went into the school and looked over the inventory of the bins, updated supplies, and replaced those that were expired and made a list of recommendations to support the overall plan.
– Bridging Pasadena: this LP team is creating a huge, comprehensive online search portal to allow residents to easy search for social services provided by Pasadena’s many non-profits. Other non-profits and city employees can also quickly search for services to help local residents. The project partner is Fuller Seminary.
– Project Initiate – City of Pasadena Internship Program: Pasadena City will allow six students from John Muir High School’s Mentoring and Partnership for Youth Development (MPYD) program to work as city interns. These students will work alongside employees from the fire, police, and public works departments. The program was created through a partnership with the Leadership Pasadena Class of 2016, the City of Pasadena, and MPYD. The goal of the program is to expose high school students to various job functions and positions within the city, motivate them to seek higher education, and ultimately help them forge meaningful and productive career paths.
