On Monday, May 9, at 12:44 a.m., the Arcadia Fire Department, along with units from Monrovia, Pasadena, and San Gabriel Fire Departments, responded to a house fire in the 300 block of North Renoak Way in the City of Arcadia.
Upon arrival, firefighters witnessed smoke and fire from the attic of a single story residential structure. Firefighters took immediate action to suppress the fire and contain it to the attic. Fire crews ventilated the structure and conducted search and rescue operations. Large amounts of combustibles in the structure slowed firefighting operations. With the use of a thermal imaging camera, two cats and two dogs were located and removed from the structure.
Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental. An outside appliance caught fire and spread to an adjacent patio cover before entering the attic. The fire displaced three residents and the estimated losses are approximately $50,000 in contents and $150,000 to the structure.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
