

The MHS Band at Memorial Day at Live Oak Park
On Saturday, May 28, the Monrovia High School Marching Wildcats Band and Color Guard held their annual awards banquet to celebrate an outstanding year in youth music and performance.
The event was held locally at Embassy Suites Arcadia. Among the many awards given that night, Director of Bands Daniel J. Magallanes presented the John Phillip Sousa and the Louis Armstrong awards, as well as a new award, The Jackie Farrow Memorial Scholarship.

The Louis Armstrong award is a nationally recognized award presented to a graduating senior for dedication and excellence in jazz.
The John Phillip Sousa award is a nationally recognized award for students that exhibit superior musicianship and outstanding dedication in band.

The Jackie Farrow Memorial Scholarship is a new award presented by the band booster board members to an exemplary graduating senior who has dedicated themselves to the service of others in the band program.
