In addition to the smoking ban, new informational signs will be erected at city parks. – Photo by Terry Miller
The smoking ban in Monrovia Parks went into effect at the beginning of the month.
Citizens observing violations can report then via phone or text to (626) 255-6799.
The city staff is focusing on educating the community about the ban. As a part of that process, new signs are been installed up in the parks. These include the procedure for reporting violations of the smoking ban.
When the city receives a report at the number, a park ranger will be sent to provide information on our new prohibition against smoking in city parks. A first-only warning will be given, but following this initial education period (scheduled to last for a few months), the city will eventually be issuing citations, when appropriate.
Additionally, the new park signs that the city has developed and will be installing at all parks list hours of operation and other park regulations (dogs must be on leashes, no alcohol use, and no portable BBQs).
