On Oct. 8, five local historians will speak on various times and trains that have a history in Arcadia.
Speakers include Dale Carter on the “San Gabriel Valley Rails, Then … ”, Jonathan Shatsnider and Brenden Maier on “Arcadia Depot: A Journey in Railroad History,” Peter DeBeers on “Pacific Electric,” and Randy Doss on “Riding the Red Cars.”
Dale Carter is a docent at the LA County Arboretum, Santa Anita Railroad Depot. Jonathan Shatsnider and Brenden Maier are railroad historians at RailGiants Train Museum/Arcadia Depot. Peter DeBeers is docent for the LA County Arboretum, Santa Anita Railroad Depot, and Rand Doss is from the Orange Empire Railway Museum.

While at the Museum Education Center, why not drop in and see a fascinating exhibit “Eleven Square Miles: Arcadia’s Maps Through Time,” running from Oct. 1 through Nov. 5, next door at the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage.

The Museum Education Center is located at 382 W. Huntington Drive. The Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage is located at 380 W. Huntington Drive, immediately behind the Community Center. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.). Admission is always free.
