On Friday, April 21 at about 7:53 p.m., Arcadia Police Officers were dispatched to the area of First Ave. and Huntington Drive on a disturbance call, claiming the suspect had a deadly weapon.

Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect entered a business in the 100 block of E. Huntington Drive and punched an employee. The suspect then entered a karate dojo in the same block and armed himself with a deadly weapon; a sheathed samurai sword. The suspect assaulted three employees with the sheathed samurai sword. He removed the sheath and swung the deadly weapon at the employees. The suspect then fled into a rear alley where the three employees and a couple of citizens held him down until officers arrived and took custody of him. The suspect was arrested and identified as Richard Sanchez, 24 years old, of Altadena.
