A South Pasadena man was sentenced today to 25 years to life in state prison for killing his 5-year-old son, whose remains were found months after he vanished, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Aramazd Andressian Sr., 35, was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Cathryn Broughman in an Alhambra courtroom. Earlier this month, Andressian pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder.
Deputy District Attorney Craig Hum of the Major Crimes Division prosecuted the case.
Prosecutors said 5-year-old Aramazd Andressian Jr. was killed on or about April 21. The boy was last seen with his father, who was found unconscious the next day at a park in South Pasadena.
The defendant was arrested on June 23 in Las Vegas and extradited to Los Angeles County. More than two months after the boy disappeared, his body was discovered in the Lake Cachuma area of Santa Barbara County.
Case GA097764 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
