On Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, the community of Monrovia will experience an event that occurs only once a century. It is called Date Meets ZIP. The date of 9-10-17 will match the community’s Zip code of 91017. This rare occurrence will be recognized by a special postmark.
Special stamp cancellation will be available for 30 days beginning Monday, Sept. 11, 2017at the Monrovia Post office, located at 225 S. Ivy Avenue in Monrovia, CA 91017.
The possibility of having a Date Meets Zip is quite rare. It only comes around once every 100 years and for most post offices, this never occurs at all.
Residents and businesses are invited to bring their own postcards, letters or purchase items from the Monrovia Post Office and have it stamped with the commemorative postmark to remember this special once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
