Pasadena Police officers responded to the north side of the Pasadena Police Station regarding a male who was observed pouring an unidentified fluid on the hood of a marked Pasadena Police vehicle on July 20. Upon contact with the suspect, it became clear he was holding a lighter.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect was trying to light the hood of the marked police vehicle on fire. The fire failed to ignite prior to officers detaining the suspect.

The suspect was arrested for attempted arson and booked into the Pasadena Police jail. The case is under investigation by the Pasadena Fire Department Arson Investigator.
