The City of Monrovia’s public works project Monrovia Renewal has started on its fourth section of the city, the south section. In April of this year the Sequel Contractors began the work that will continue throughout the rest of the year. The area involved includes the part of Monrovia that is south of the 210 Freeway.
As with the other sectors of the city, the work will include repair and/or improvements of sewers, water mains, and streets, as well as curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveway approaches. This work was first completed in the center sections of the city confusingly called the southeast and southwest sections. These areas included the portions of the city from the 210 Freeway on the south and Colorado Boulevard on the north, and ran from city line to city line on the east and west. The northwest section has also been completed the; the area north of Colorado and west of Myrtle Avenue.
The city has repeatedly stressed that residents will be notified well in advance of any work being done in their neighborhood. The plans for the work to be done can be found on the city’s website (cityofmonrovia.org) and anyone with questions can call the Public Works Division at (626) 932-5575. Notification is a three step process:
The work schedules this week included curb, gutter, and sidewalk work on Duarte Road. The water service lines will be removed and replaced on 6th, 8th, 10th, Encino Avenue and Diamond Street.
