At approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a physical altercation in progress. A male and female were seen arguing when the female slapped the male across his face pulling his earring from his ear. The 22-year-old female from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before 5 p.m., officers responded to Citibank, 660 W. Duarte Road, regarding the report of a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred. The suspect pried a cellphone from the female victim’s hands as she was walking down the street. The suspect was described as a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. He fled the scene in a dark SUV with paper plates.
At about 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles containing tracking devices to combat the increase in bicycle thefts around the city. An investigation revealed a 25-year-old male from Pasadena took the bicycle and fled the scene. He was located with the bicycle and drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to Residence Inn, 321 E. Huntington Drive, regarding a fight in progress. Officers contacted the two male subjects and determined through a series of tests that both subjects were under the influence of a controlled substance. The 38-year-old male from Pasadena and the 48-year-old male from Inglewood were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just after midnight, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Duarte Road regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed a 46-year-old male from San Gabriel had the stolen package and property in his vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 8 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness, 125 N. First Ave., regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect smashed the front passenger window of the vehicle and stole a backpack containing a MacBook Pro and a book. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just after 7:30 a.m., an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation near Live Oak Avenue and Peck Road. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit terminated in the City of Baldwin Park, when the vehicle collided with an electrical utility box. The suspect ran from the vehicle, but was subsequently detained by officers. An investigation revealed the 35-year-old male from Baldwin Park had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 3:37 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Naomi Avenue. Upon contact, it was determined the driver had a suspended driver’s license and was a convicted felon in possession of pepper spray. The 34-year-old male from El Monte was subsequently arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just after 1:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Oakwood Drive regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered that an unknown suspect had smashed the victim’s front passenger side window and stole a purse and wallet. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Santa Anita Race Track, 285 W. Huntington Drive, regarding a man found in a vehicle showing symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The 29-year-old male from Arcadia was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct and was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 7:40 a.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of La Cadena Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The investigation revealed an unknown suspect had pried open the coin operated laundry machines and stole an unknown amount of coins overnight. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just before 9:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street regarding an arson investigation. The Arcadia Fire Department was on scene and had extinguished a fire at the bottom of the freeway embankment. The fire department had previously extinguished a fire in the area of First Avenue and Colorado Boulevard earlier in the day at 8 a.m. Arson investigators identified a person of interest during the investigation that possessed a cigarette lighter. The subject ultimately confessed to starting both fires. The 28-year-old male transient was subsequently arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 6:09 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Colorado Boulevard regarding a grand theft investigation. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect stole a backpack full of camera equipment from a photographer who was hired to photograph a wedding reception. The investigation is on-going.
Just after 8:30 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Sharon Road regarding a residential burglary investigation. The investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear glass sliding door to the residence, ransacked the interior of the home and stole property. The investigation is on-going.
