Officer Thomas Montes identified as new school resources officer
The City of Monrovia has spent the past several months prioritizing traffic enforcement activities by recruiting internally to find a new traffic enforcement officer. Officer James Ruano has been selected as the top candidate to be the next traffic enforcement officer.
Officer Ruano currently serves as Monrovia Unified School District’s school resources officer (SRO). Due to the importance and sensitivity of this position, the city spent weeks coordinating a recruitment process to select the next SRO. Officer Thomas Montes interviewed with the Monrovia Unified School District and will be the district’s new SRO.
Transfer of duties between officers Ruano and Montes will be coordinated during the next several months in time for the start of the next school year.
