

The appointments for the Monrovia Measure K Citizen Advisory Committee were approved by city council on Tuesday night. Going forward, the City of Monrovia will do community outreach for the Measure K sales tax from February through April before finalizing a spending budget.
The committee will review the revenue and expenditures made from the Measure K sales tax that was passed during the special election on Nov. 5.
Community outreach is planned for Monrovia Old Town AdvisoryBoard, Community Services Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, LibraryBoard, Planning Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, service clubs, and CommunityCoordinating Council.
The advisory committee consists of five citizens whovolunteered and who will serve four-year terms. Their terms will begin July 1.
The new sales tax will increase local sales tax from 9.5% to10.25% and will go into effect April 1. They city will begin to receive revenuefrom the taxes in June.
