Monrovians Donate 5.5 Acres to the Hillside Wilderness Preserve

Two Monrovians graciously offered to donate5.5 acres of private property to the City of Monrovia, adding land to theHillside Wilderness Preserve. On Jan. 21, the City Council approved the itemsrelated to the donation including rezoning the property, ensuring the landcannot be developed. It will now be part of more than 1,400 acres of wildernesspreserve.

In 2016, the City opened over 4.5 miles ofHillside Wilderness Preserve trails providing passive recreationalopportunities for the community. There are four access points to the HillsideWilderness Preserve that are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday – Sunday:

  • Sleepy Hollow – Located off NorumbegaDrive (west of Starlit Lane).
  • Ridgeside – Located off Ridgeside Drive,1/4 mile north of Briarcliff Drive.
  • Cloverleaf – Located at the end ofCloverleaf Drive.
  • Highland – Located at the end of HighlandPlace.
