OnMarch 8, the Monrovia Historical Preservation Group and the Monrovia HistoricalMuseum are co-sponsoring an event on women’s suffrage and the 19th Amendment.

The19th amendment granted women the right to vote. After nearly a century ofprotest, the amendment was finally ratified in August of 1920. This year willbe the 100th anniversary of this achievement.

Theevent will include a talk on suffrage by Pauline Field, chairman of 50/50Leadership— a nonprofit organization promoting women’s equal leadership. Fieldalso rode on a women’s suffrage float in this year’s Tournament of Roses Paradeand will offer comments on that experience as well.

Therewill also be displays including a timeline of significant events in Monrovia’shistory led by women.

Theevent will take place Sunday, March 8, at 1:30 p.m., at the museum, 742 E.Lemon Ave., Monrovia. Light refreshments will be served and attendance is freeand open to the public.
