Pasadena – Thinking Ahead of the COVID-19 Curve

Pasadena Opens Field Hospital at Convention Center

On Thursday morning a temporary medical facility at thePasadena Convention Center was unveiled for the local media. City Manager,Steve Mermell said this facility would supplement Huntington Hospital’s care ofCOVID-19 patients,  “…should the needarise.”

Pasadena is thinking ahead of the curve, according tovice-mayor Tyron Hampton.

With the latest news that Pasadena’s Health Dept. now has confirmed 184 COVID-19 cases within the city boundaries and 2 new deaths bringing Wednesday’s toll to 14 deaths. The city is working on a new dashboard to be posted t weekly on the city’s website, according to an email Wednesday from Lisa Derderian, Pasadena Public Information Officer

Last week, City Manager entered into a contract with Redrock Entertainment Services, in an amount not-to-exceed $700,000 for the new field hospital.

Temporary Medical Facility, or Alternate Care Site, at thePasadena Center is initially for a three month period trial period.

Council authorized the city manager to enter into a“zero-dollar Services Agreement with Pasadena Hospital Association .

On hand Thursday morning were Police Chief Perez along withPasadena’s health director, Dr. Ying Ying Goh The site is set up with theexception of the medical equipment that would be instituted along with medicalstaff should the need exist. The initial set up includes 250 beds.
