Legislators shared everything they learned from the women immediately following the visit anyway. “They don’t want the public to hear their pain, happening at hands of the US government,” California Rep. Nanette Barragán tweeted . “Women at Irwin County detention described a disturbing pattern that many who visited a doctor for Gyno/OBGYN issues came back worse. One lady got so bad her belly turned blue. Women cried as they talked about her pain.” Barragán said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released her just days before legislators arrived to conduct their oversight.
