Police Tuesday circulated images of the minivan that struck and killed a 34-year-old pedestrian in Fountain Valley and whose driver fled the scene.
Fountain Valley Police Department officers responded at about 6:20 a.m. Saturday to the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Ward Street regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian and found Long Ta, of Santa Ana, lying injured in the westbound lanes of Edinger Avenue, according to the department’s Sgt. Brian Mosher.
Ta was taken to a hospital by paramedics, where he died two days later.
An investigation into the collision revealed Ta was walking in the crosswalk at the intersection when he was struck by the minivan as it ran a red light traveling westbound on Edinger Avenue, Mosher said.
The driver fled the scene without stopping to identify themselves or offer aid.
The suspect vehicle was described as a possibly dark-colored 1991 to 1995 Dodge or Chrysler minivan that may have sustained damage to its left front end.
Anyone with information on the collision was asked to call the FVPD Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481.
