

A pedestrian was killed in a collision with a Metrolink train Thursday in Covina, and a Union Pacific freight train fatally hit a person Wednesday in the Sun Valley.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 4:58 a.m. to North Irwindale Avenue and East San Bernardino Road, where they discovered the Metrolink train had collided with a pedestrian, City News Service reported.
The crash victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision stopped eastbound and westbound Metrolink trains for an unknown span of time.
In Sun Valley, paramedics were sent to the 8200 block of North San Fernando Road shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No injuries occurred on the train, according to the Fire Department.
Authorities were unsure why the person was on the tracks, and the incident halted Metrolink’s Antelope Valley line for several hours, City News Service reported.
The person who was hit by the train died at the scene, and the LAFD did not release victim’s age and gender.
